de-ment-ia 词 源自 拉丁语（与拉丁美洲风马牛～）
The word dementia comes from the Latin,
de- a prefix meaning “to depart” and mens which stands for “mind”.
公元1800-10年间 成词，来自 Latin dēmentia madness,
equivalent to dēment- out of one's mind (see dement ) + -ia noun suffix
此乃 不治之症 （no cure， 英文医学书中用语)
痴呆症 中 奥赛默病占 50～70%，血管病所致者占20%，其它原因其余。
奥赛默病 多见于 65岁以上老人，但 可以30岁后就起病者
总人口中 有 1/10 有可能在其一生中 发此病
奥赛默病 以 德国精神病医生和神经病理学家 Aloysius (Alois) Alzheimer 1906年首先遇到和研究此病而命名
大约10多年前，医学界 已经摒弃了 痴呆症 这个 不雅不确切 带侮辱性的名词！
改称 认知障碍, (认知 辨识)脑功能退化

血脑屏障 ---- blood brain barrier, BBB ----- 由于这道屏障，选择性的屏障，大多数病原物和化学物质即使是以其分子或离子状态的，也不能从血液里进入渗入大脑的脑细胞里
在对 痴呆症的探索研究过程中，多年前，有一波人 认为 铝，铝制品，铝分子，铝离子 与它有关，密切有关，
有一个说法 是 铝 沉淀于脑组织里了
但 后来 更多的科学家 学者的 试验和实验证明： 铝 与 痴呆症 毫不相干！
即使 个别患者的脑神经元里有铝的痕迹，只是果 而非因， 更何况 绝大多数患者的大脑根本没有铝痕迹！

Reality: During the 1960s and 1970s, aluminum emerged as a possible suspect in Alzheimer’s. This suspicion led to concern about exposure to aluminum through everyday sources such as pots and pans, beverage cans, antacids and antiperspirants. Since then, studies have failed to confirm any role for aluminum in causing Alzheimer’s. Experts today focus on other areas of research, and few believe that everyday sources of aluminum pose any threat.
