Before I see another troll comment, I just wanted to let those know what kind of man Steve Appleton was.
When Micron was suffering due to cheap DRAM being dumped on the marked by asian competitors, Steve Appleton, the executives, and many of the managers took huge pay cuts (some even taking no pay) until the market recovered. At the same time, Steve Appleton restructured the profit sharing program to ensure that those who are doing the hands on work (operators, technicians and others) still got performance bonuses to make sure they got recognized for their hard work and effort. And it wasn't an insignificant amount.
He and the other executives would participate every year in the holiday and employee appriciation lunches that were served in the company cafateria. He would personally go around the room serving pie, sodas, and get napkins or whatever for the employees. Were not talking managers and such, but again, the operators and others who took care of the day to day operations.
On holidays, Steve would personally come into the plant (even on the night shift) and go around thanking people for their willingness to work the holidays. Because you can't just shut down a FAB for a day. There is weeks of processing to make DRAM. Besides, we loved working the holidays at Micron. They pay very well.
If you passed him in the halls and gave him a smile and a hello, he would smile and say hello right back to you.
He is what every CEO in America should be. So please, show the man and his family some respect on this sad day. If you can still troll after reading this, than I truly feel sorry for you. For having so much hate and anger in your heart. It won't change my respect for the man.
Rest in Peace Steve Appleton. God bless the family (immediate and extended) that you leave behind.
