in the first place? make your advisor happy, and he/she in turn will make your life much easier.
shoot, my advisor was so nice to me when I was getting my masters, she practically answered all the questions that came up from the committee during my thesis defense. I hardly had to answer any questions.
on the other hand if you piss off your advisor, your life will be miserable, guranteed!
