You placed yourself outside of the arena,

 

then you complain that you have little influence.

You seem to have a standard, which is not yourself, not your boss, but some third entity out there only you know about.

Your brain is playing a trick on you, you are distracted (or more accurately, you are distracting yourself) by this third reference point, so that you don't have to engage in the real "fight" happening inside the arena.

Fighting inside the arena comes with a price. Are you willing to pay the price to get that feeling of "fulfillment"?

Or, say to yourself: I'm here to make my boss look good and get paid for doing that, so that I can have a real life, and I do have a real life.

Your boss will appreciate that.
