It is tough to work with an unsecured supervisor because it is in his instinct to undermine what you want to achieve.
My two cents are whether or not you may be able to build up a broader network in the company? Usually Chinese compatriots can serve as a good starting point of your network. If not, anyway to build a sound relationship with clients or other related parties who can provide adequate feedback on your performance and channel their opinion to the senior management without alerting your supervisor?
