I have done what you said, always let supervisor know what I am

but he keep those to him only, and rarely report to his boss, who can make final decision about my fate. But when I go to talk to my supervisor's boss, he told me to come back to talk to my supervisor. Kind of in between, tough enough... how to break through?? thanks
