grateful for the tips. they were written with sensitivity and support. some background...I was passed over for a promotion I was eminently qualified for by the previous management (now replaced by ZS and his boss, also new). ZS has let me and my boss know outright that he thinks I am underregcognized and will do what he can to rectify the situation. although I haven't raised the issue with his boss (the big fish) yet, I think he is aware of my pay grade discrepancy (relative to contributions), but he is in the process of laying more people off so has to reject all promotion requests for now, according to ZS. prior to this conversation with ZS, I really thought I finally saw the light at the end of my underpaid tunnel, since both him and his boss think highly of my work. now I am afraid to build close work relations with him, seeing I have to walk a tight rope to keep it professional. I will have to be very very careful :(
