我应该如何向同事开口？

本人一向笨嘴拙舌，现有一事向各位前辈请教。
办公室内有一华人同事，身上的汗味非常之大，而且近来有渐重的趋势，就像一星期没洗澡一样。办公室每天都有客户来，我可以忍，客户们怎么想就不知道了。实在影响公司形象。
这同事是我的好朋友，但我也不好意思向他直接提出。我已经在办公室里加了空气清新器了，效果有限。我怎么才能在不伤他自尊的情况下解决这个问题呢？
