why not teach local community college as PT job first

Teaching at community school and grade school is generally low pay and student quality varies.  Master degree is necessity because of relatively higher salary.  There are exceptions, elementary school teacher's average salary in my area is $80K, but I bet it is hard to land a contract.
Also, just like a normal job, principal is the boss.  Politics is everywhere.  Teachers are concerned of law suits especially when handling black kids.
So now ask yourself whether you would like to deal the same politics with much lower pay.
