Work relation vs gossip

Does gossip help you make a better relationship with co-worker? Just curious
I never say anything behind people no matter what, but I found out majority of people more or less say something behind others and looks like they
Are closer to each other than those don't gossip, maybe I am wrong, what your guys think?
