Quebec Labor Law
I am an English speaking Canadian, a professional with 10+ years of proven work experience.
I received a job offer from a Montreal employer in August saying that they offer me a position that was being created, and I can start as a casual employee, the paper work will be ready by Nov 1, and I will be offered a two year position after that.
Last week, I was told that my employment will be terminated in two weeks. I said that the offer is for two years. Their answer was that the probation is default in the casual period and they can terminate employment in this period any time.
Now I am in a very awkward situation. I have signed a lease with landlord here. I tried to find another job here, but it seems almost impossible, since almost all the local jobs require French or English-French bilingual.
They hired me after extensive reference check and interviews, and the job is in the same area as what I did and I am experienced in. They gave me some very questionable excuses for the termination.
The problem is how to stop this kind of injustice. What are your suggestions?
