Tell them directly, no service is free and your rate is 10K per hour and minimum charge is two hours, this rate is fixed and final. When they let you go without any package for you, it means this company has no any value to you, and the company treated you too bad , you should never do anything for them for free, you have to charge them at a higher and reasonable rate, 10K per hour is not high at all for business to business( one lunch with Warren Buffett costs a few millions). Reference is not something important for you to get a new IT job, no hiring people really believe what the references said, and no hiring company will make offer decision based on your references, actually as long as you are capable, then you don't need any reference for looking for a new IT job. As a matter of fact, not many IT hiring people care about references 活的有尊严的人才会受尊重,才会有价值.
