Finding opportunity in times of crisis.
Reading lines of your post suggests that you are a good tech guru, having all the skillsets in your area. With your experiences and skillsets, it appears to me that it will NOT be so challenging for you to land a job in your industry. Normally, there are opportunities around crisis. I would suggest that you may need examine issues and explore the opportunities before looking for other jobs.
As you said, others walked away and you are one man army. Thus, your team needs leadership. You need step out of your technical box, focus on how to manage and work out couple plans such as:
1) business plan:
your team objectives -- support gas buiness. Identify your business needs
deliveries -- 0 down time, system upgrade, integration of systems or applicaitons
new business processes (backup?), negotiations with xxx vendors...
team budget -- purchasing, liscensing, new staff, travelling, and trainning.
2) staff plan
hiring people,
people on boarding trainning,
business alighment with the U.S. side.
