non-compete help

I did not realize I had signed non-compete agreement with my former employer (A) until the exit interview. Since my work at my new employer (B) is different, I thought it did not violate the agreement, so I did not notify B of the agreement. Several days after I started working for B, A contacted B asking for description of my work at B to decide if or not it violates the agreement. B then asked me to go home to have it settled first. Now I am waiting for response from A.
I need advise on how I should handle the possible decision A will make, either violation or not violation. Thanks in advance.
