The problem of many Chinese is 深怕担了“袒护自己人”的虚名

"袒护自己人" haman's nature, and this how a group of people can survive better. Nothing is wrong with 袒护自己人. I have never heard/seen any American complain his/her leader 袒护自己人. That is so natural. If you do not 袒护自己人, who will 袒护 you?
