先别这么快把事情上升到是否相互信任的高度。我看完全是沟通问题。

In your 1-on-1 meeting with him, ask questions like:

What is your expecation to this position?(Note: the expectation to this position, not me me me. Make it strictly business, nothing personal.)

Would you make the expectation as clear and measurable as possible? I ensure you that I will deliver, and I would love to get clear guild lines and your feedback to my work.

- As per my impression, your boss is not quite a seasoned manager, since his message to you is too vague, therefore causes unnecessary confusion. Given such situation, you need to lead him to the right path by asking for clarification.

- Don't quit your job. Don't panic. It is very common. You can turn around the case by thoughtful moves.
