It's that time again. First step is self evaluations. I always hate self evaluation, in China or here. Last year I spent lots of time on documenting what I have accomplished during the year, but it didn't make much difference on the review I got. So this year I want to save myself some time and brain cells.
On the other hand, since the culture here is everybody needs to hoot his/her horn as loud as possible, or you will be regarded as having nothing to showcase. "Modest" is not a virtue here. So I will have to spend some time on drawing a nice picture of myself, but certaintly not as much time as last year.
What's your take about self evaluations/annual reviews? What do you write about your "improvement opportunities" (a.k.a.,weaknesses)?
