why is self training so hard?

I have planned a self training for myself one month agao. Most of time it will be after work during the night.

But I found it is very hard to follow the plan, especially when you have a baby at home, meanwhile, I am also doing bathroom renovation at home( not a big project).    Everytime, when I review my plan, I am still behind the schedule.  My original plan was to complete three books and pass the certificate, then change my job.  I am in IT industry.   But it seems it takes forever for me to do this.

Any suggestions?  Have you got any experience from which I can learn?
