you did not participate into the "group" activity, i.e. chat about kids etc. How can you expect them to treat you as a member of the group? have you ever watched "friends"? Rachel even started smoking to integrate into her group because she realized her boss and the other woman in the office shared this common habit and often discussed work and made decision while they smoked together. That is how much effort one has to make to be part of a team.
