I'm in the process of negotiating with a recruiting company about a new job. It's for a Sr. Web Service Developer contractor position in Sacramento. I have a full time permanent job now. And I work from home full time. The reason I'm looking for a new job is I have lost two promotion opportunities because the upper management needs technical leads to work in the office (maybe it's just an excuse!). This new job has two compensation options, hourly pay and salary pay. Salary pay is lower than hourly pay because it's subsidized with benefits like health insurance and PTO time. I'm doing research on how to calculate my current hourly rate, and how to factor in the current job benefit such as bonus, health plans, PTO days, 401K match and group/disability insurance. I'm trying to determine how much compensation I should ask for. The recruiting company increased the offer during the second phone call. They will talk to me again on next Monday about the compensation. If you have experience or suggestions, could you please share? I really appreciate it.
