VPs usually just want to find out the following
1. Your communication skills
2. Level of confidence
3. Are you excited about the new company?

They don't want to override the hiring managers' decisions. But they want to know if your are trouble maker.

Just be yourself and show your confidence! Speak loud and clear on the phone.
