shall I follow up?

上周四一公司要求提供references.周五公司HM回复如下：

Thank you for the references. Can I call them during today some time or should I wait until this evening. As I mentioned, this is the final step prior to reaching a decision of whom to make an offer, so I would like to do this today as I am on plane tomorrow.

回复可以，并且也联系了references通知可能有人联系。现在还没有得到回复，请问这种情况下我应该耐心等待还是需要再follow up?谢谢
