there are still chance that they will match other company's offer and give you more responsibilities.

It's good to take the chance and tell him (them) the truth. You might mistaken them previously and this is the great opportunity to see what they have to say. If they truly believe that you have a wonderful future in company, and they would like to raise your salary, you might want to consider to stay.

Just another possibility.
