对说话艺术的困惑

以前总听人说什么老中说话涵蓄，老美说话直爽不拐弯。现在觉得满不是那么回事。就说开party吧，你老公如果没和你一起去，老中会说“你老公怎么不来呀，在干吗呢？”，而老美则会说“你老公要是能来，我们会很高兴看见他”。尽管大家的熟悉程度是一样的。

另外如果老美在表示不满之前会先说很多好听的，然后炮弹会跟在"But"之后才出现，但老中一般是炮弹直接就放出来了。到底是老中说话涵蓄还是老美说话更涵蓄，我有些糊涂了。。。
