One thing to think about in the future: when you have trouble with the girl, you'll want the group leader to be on your side.

By the way, you should meet with your boss from time to time so he/she knows your work. However, bosses generally don't enjoy dealing with people troubles. They don't want to be a judge, either. If they have to do it, they do it so that the group can function.
