i don't think sql server skills alone will make much difference.lots of development teams don't have DBA role anyway.Actually, .net developer are in charge of all back end(c#/database) though it's not best practice.
u might consider .net if u r keen to coding. there are much more .net positions on market comparing with sql server DBA ones(30:1 ? roughly).
