替朋友问个问题

一朋友正在申请一个学校的教职，被告知已经被学校批准了，最后要等到trustee meeting最后通过。不过，也被告知，trustee meeting 从来没有拒绝过提名。
现在，一个search committee member来信，先祝贺他的加盟，然后希望他去参加一个与教学有关的会议。他那天正好有事情，不太想去。请问，这会影响最后拿到这个职位吗?
