double medical insurance problem

i get annoyed by double medical insurance problem. Both my wife and I work and we have medical insurance from each employer. We thought we can use either of them at our discreet. Unfortunately, that is not the case. The insurance company said my wife's medical coverage is her primary and her coverage under my plan is secondary (the same thing is for me as well). my wife recently saw her doc for annual checkup with my insurance AETNA. AETNA says she needs to send the claim to her primary Kaiser first and then AETNA picks up the rest if needed.

Damn. it makes things unnecessarily complicated. I do not want this hassle. Next year, we won't have double coverage. It is a shame that you and your employer pay two insurances and you do not have a choice. it is much simpler to use just one so those guys do not fight. Unless you anticipate a big medical bill which one insurance is not enough, you invite headache for yourself to have double coverages.

lesson learned!
