Airport is hiring---Canada

TORONTO - Ottawa is spending $10.5 million to add more border service guards at six airports across the country.

Public Safety Minister Peter Van Loan says the funding will translate into 16 additional hours of customs service at certain airports, paid for by the government instead of the airline.

He says that should mean cheaper fares for consumers, since the airlines will not pass those costs on through their tickets.

Van Loan says the move will make airports more competitive and keep the border safer.

The Toronto City Centre Airport, Deer Lake Regional Airport and Saskatoon John G. Diefenbaker International Airport will all receive funding.

The Regina International Airport also falls under the new plan, along with two airports that have not yet been named.
