How do you know they didn't work hard? How much do you know each and every one of them? Just because of you stayed does not mean you are good! Who do you think you are? Don't look down QA or any other roles. If you do, that only means you are ignorant, a frog in the well. Each role has its own challenges. Also an employee can be laid off for various reasons,some of them has nothing to do with their performance or personality, e.g. having a incompetent, jealous and mean boss.
