我该不该玩命工作？ sorry, sent an empty one

I have been working in a company for 8 years. always key designer. but last year performance was bad, my manager wanted lay off me, for some reason he did like me. since I have been very good before, a lot of people said good word about me, eventually he gave up. right now there is a project, due day was this coming summer, I am assigned key position again, but I think since economy is so bad, after I did this project, I will get a package. Do I need to work hard on this project, they assigned me key position is because time is so tight, and nobody really knew the protocol, I was the one designed the old project before.
