You made a great decision to quit that junk job.

Unless you, like me, really like C/C++, I would NOT suggest spend time learn that kind of narrow skill.

There are more easier Database stuff and widely being used in every business field. Skype talk with me if you like.

With your past Engineering background, yes, people knew you are smart. Yes, they knew you can handle the new job without problem.

I will help you build up experience, after couple of month, you will NOT be the same you. You will have marketable skills.
