1) Set up annual goals and personal development plan with permission from your direct boss.
2) Set up weekly one-on-one with your direct supervisor to discuss over your progress made towards your goals and development plan.
3) Talk to your colleagues. Write to your colleagues. Walk out of your cubicle and socialize with your colleague.
4) Before sending out your emails, use the check grammar function in Word or Outlook to check your message. You need to protect your public image by yourself. An excuse of "I am not a native speaker" won't get you any sympathy in the work place.
5) Write English message in Wenxuecity.com or any other online forum to practice your communication skills. Instead of paying lip service to your New Year resolution of improving English, get up from where you fell and move forward towards your goals. Stop whining to your boss or readers of WXC. That make you look bad.
6) Subscribe to an English journal of your choice: BusinessWeek only cost $40 per year. Reader's Digest is even cheaper. Read an article every night before going to bed. If your English would not move up a notch, sue the publishers!!!
