It is all about priority

For most people, family is NO. 1 priority. Even though some may be more ambixious, one should remember your family are the only people who will always stand on your side.
Taking family as NO 1 priority does not mean being irresposible at work. "Work smart" is more appreciated than "work hard". The bottomline is to get results and get job done in time.
