I apologize....Allow me a 2nd try.

I consider it disrespectful on my part for failing to to be more direct. And for that, I apologize.

Here is how that joke came about:

1) Hannah snapped a shot of a sidewalk-crossing snake and posted it at: http://members.wenxuecity.com/profile.php?cid=uqzEyA==
2) The snake Hannah took a picture of, presumed to be a female, was out taking a stroll without a hat. How scandalous! I would never ever have done that! Always quick to extricate myself in a sticky situation, I wasted no time to point a finger: "That was my distant cousin, sis!"
3) Why is it so scandalous for a female to be seen in public without a hat? That has to go back to England in the Victorian times and earlier eras. Ms. Jane Austen and her contemporaries surely would not have approved of such indiscretion.
4) Thinking of Ms. Austen, I just could not have resisted the urge to parody the opening sentence of her famed Pride and Prejudice: "It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife."
