I have been an engineer for years. I didn't want to be a manager until 4 years ago. At that time I was so tired of bad software design and implementation. However, nobody listened to me since I was not the leader of the team. At that moment, I made up my mind to become a leader to change the situation. I took two years to get my MBA. At the same time, I moved to architect position. Now I have some control of the design. But the MBA made me more ambitious. I want to move to executive level in 5-7 yrs. Nothing goes right currently. Two years gone. I cannot move to a manager yet. How can I realize my dream? I am old and I don't have time. My manager (titled director) and his manager (titled VP) know my goal and both of them told me that they would help me. But I think they just tried to keep me in the company and keep in current position.
