It's a good sign

but you never know.

I interviewed with a company a couple of weeks ago. I sent all the interviewers thank-you notes after the interview and received an email from the hiring manager, telling me how wonderful to work in that company. I took that as a very positive sign since I was told by some friends that normally hiring managers would not reply the thank-you note if they are not interested in the candidate anymore. However, I got a call from the hiring manager several days later, notifying me that he decided not to give me an offer and that he would refer me to someone else in the same company.

So I would think the email you got as a very good sign. But there are always unexpected things which can happen during the job-hunting process.
