Actually, contractor or Sr. Engineer offer the best life tyle and easy money.
Management has management's headache....
I remember I read a article on "Dallas Morning News" many years ago, it saying: "If you are promoted as a manegr, then it is a end of yiur career..."

When I worked at America Airline, I knew two very good america friend keep quit job after be promoted as the team manager. The reason? Not worth the effort and money...

After several layoff, you will know: nothing is forever, then real job secirity is your skill...

I have chat with a friend, who get a layoff after 8 years as a Process Manger in a large semiconductor. I aksed him, what will you do if we can reverse the clock to 8 years ago, will you be manager or Sr. Engineer? His answer is: "the life of Sr. Engineer is nicer, but, after you are in that position for a long enough time, they will push you to the manager's position." Anyway he got a lay off now, hard to find a job again, because he doesn't have the marketable skill....
