There is no limit for your career if you have a Ph.D. Me and most of my girl friends are Ph.Ds and we all have good jobs ( a few of us are on management positions), wanderful hu*****ands( caring, successful) and smart/beautiful kids. A Ph.D is not the cause of personal life failure!
