actually his situation is more suitable to work at university or goverment in a less stressful environment to do some more routine work. industry is always dynamic and stressful. is it possible to go back to university? for his situation, health is really the most important thing. to keep him healthy, he NEED TO DO SOMETHING, and he need to do something he can handle well. he should not be too agressive in his career, and keep happy with where he is. people in his situation cannot make the right judgement freqently --- in career and in some other things since they are very much inflenced or control by illusion (e.g. think of the person in "the beautiful mind"). you need to make dicision for him. my thought only.
