I had similar background as you did and same age too. I got my PhD. 8.5 years ago and have been working in couple of high tech. companies, however, I am not earning as much as you are (I am not in Silicone Valley but Midwest). I have been in evening MBA program from one of the top 10 business school, and will finish by this coming May. My temporary goal is to seek an opportunities in product portfolio management inside current company. I believe that this will allow me fully utilize my knowledge in technology, finance and management. I don’t think that a person has to go to Wall Street after MBA; there are a lot of other fields he / she can explore. I have family with two kids, and would like to stay in a fairly stable working environment.
As long as you enjoy, age doesn’t matter. I have been seen so many people with same even older age looking for new challenges in their lives.
Good luck to you!
