What you explained here is called "rationalization". Most of people who committed fraud used rationalization to justify their fraudulent behavior. If your company treated you unfairly, you can argue, you can negotiate, you can quit! What you did was very unprofessional, and unethical.

Everyone makes mistakes. It is not the end of the world or the end of your career. Just stand up from where you fell. I am sure you will get over it and find the next job. But don't make the same mistake twice in the future.
