For example, if you have two degrees from two different univ. in the US and you do not put one of the degrees on your resume, background check will not prove you have two degrees unless they contact all universities in the US (over one thousand).
On the other hand, if you say you have a M.S. degree while the actual degree is M.A., background check will likely discover it.
Background check will not discover everything.
