I don't see anything wrong based on your intentions. I don't think this is going to help much, but that fuzzy word "communication skills" does have some meaning sometimes. Given the same situation, somebody may be able to deal with it so that everybody is happy. Or on another day you can do it better. Anyway, your manager will tell you that you'll need to improve your communication skills. Of course, if your manager or coworker has better communications skills, this wouldn't be an issue either.
