I don't believe you did anything wrong,

but the only suggestion I had for you is that you should have mentioned to your manager or supervisor that you would like to help others and at the same learn from others prior to do anything beyond your responsibilities. If you didn't feel fully loaded, just go ask for more (you were hired for a reason). If you want to find a mentor, go for somebody at least two levels up from you, not one level lower than you. High expectations will drive you high in the future.
