Can a husband take some days off in a company if his wife gives

My friend's hu*****and is going to work for a company starting in August. However, his wife is going to give birth to a baby also at the beginning of August. Would the hu*****and be able to take some days off in this situation?

I have no idea how companies normal deal with this situation.
