Well, you can try. There has to be hard evidence that you were laid off because of it. Unless it's stated in the separation letter, otherwise you have to find the supporting material.
To hire for more people in similar to your background doesn't mean much. The company can tell you since your performance isn't up to the expectation, have to find a replacement.
