and vehemently opposed by all the elite schools.  Philosophically, it will be viewed as fundamentally un-American to artificially restrict choice.  On a practical level, there is ZERO incentive for the schools to reduce the size of the applicant pool, let alone to collaborate on devising policies to "demean" themselves.
