Buffett didnt win his reputation in one day. Time has proved again and again that do not bet against him even if you don't agree with him.  

If you follow Buffett's career, you would know that he offers his opinion and gives interviews and lectures all the time, not just recently (teaching is his passion).  And Buffett has been a very vocal democratic party supporter for a long time.
