再一次/最后一次回复 (重要的事必须说三遍，really?!):

1) 你的这个计算 (The benefit payout =((50400/35)/12)*0.9=$108 per month)的错误在于没有考虑"通涨指数", which Lionkingmom clearly stated in her response (or you could look up yourself). One has to bring all the previous SS contributions to a "current value base" to compare apple to apple. 想想你2016年缴的100块怎能与1996年缴的100块等值？

2) 富人贴穷人的道理你怎么就不明白呢？ "a. 少于900（估值啊），b. 多于900少于5000（估值），c. 以及大于5000, 然后a*0.9+b*0.3+c*0.15，这个才是每月拿到的钱". 这三个参数(0.9, 0.3, 0.15)还不明白？ 低端的乘0.9, 中端的乘0.3, 高端的乘0.15. 想想一个人如果缴了35年满额, 得有多少钱被这个0.15浪费掉!

3) 你下面这个不成立：Monthly tax is (117000/12)*0.064=624, plus employer contribution $624. Total $1248. 

For those Max out payers, assume they get Max payout of $2600. Social security would be in red if  they live 17 years after retire. People live much longer now  that is the problem.

我前面中文说过SS是现在支付过去。引用的英文文章also clearly states that SS fund is NOT a pension fund (which is what your calculation implied). 只要现在工作的人有能力支付就不会破产。

如果按目前的规定及支付速度, 确实N多年之后会入不敷出, 这就是你说的debate. 但解决的方法很多 - 加税/少付/提高年龄。加税基本没做; 少付没做多少(put in a lower cost-of-living index for example); 提高年龄的事一直在做。现在是67岁, 你去查查10年前是多少岁, 20年前又是多少岁？
